I have really learnt the value of discipleship in that as a teacher, in as much as I am able to deliver the content, I am also concerned about the soul-formation of the student - which is of more eternal value than just the content. The content is important but I now look at the students from an eternal perspective and not just as people I am taking through a curriculum.

The Path

Curriculum

A 15-month residential journey, culminating in a year of internship at the Timazi Africa Center in Kikuyu.

  • Exploration of sexuality and human flourishing
  • Youth ministry skills and perspectives

  • Hermeneutics (biblical interpretation)
  • Homiletics (preaching)
  • Introductory apologetics
  • Youth ministry challenges
  • Basic counseling principles

  • Reflecting on the teacher's own educational journey
  • Understanding the role of the teacher
  • Integrating faith and learning
  • Developing a biblical philosophy of education
  • Study of Seven Laws of Teaching by John Gregory and Teaching Redemptively by Donovan Graham

  • Three-month school placement (one academic term)
  • Practical application of learning
  • Classroom coaching and feedback
  • At least two in-person teaching evaluations
Our Approach

Why Residential Training?

The residential format prioritizes formation through association and fellowship over classroom instruction alone. While formal classes remain important, we extend that learning through shared living.

Observation

Living alongside seasoned teachers, participants watch faith and vocation lived out in the small, unscripted moments — not just in lesson plans.

Mentorship

Close, ongoing guidance from mentors who invest personally in each participant's character, calling, and craft — not just their coursework.

Fellowship

Shared meals, shared rhythms, and shared struggle knit participants into a community that shapes them as much as any classroom does.

Formation happens best in the ordinary rhythms of shared life — not only in the classroom.
